Lisa Garretson, Artistic Director & Owner - House of Dance Plano
Lisa has shared her passion for dance as an instructor and mentor for the past twenty years at Dallas Ballet Center and Studio 3 Dance. This privilege has allowed Lisa to help dancers build their technical dance skills, self-esteem, confidence, and poise . She cherishes every moment that she is able to inspire dancers to pursue a career in the dance industry and follow their dreams. Above all, Lisa believes that dance should be fun and accessible to all.
Lisa first stepped into a dance studio as a toddler and has not stopped dancing since. She studied dance at the University of North Texas where she received extensive training in ballet and modern. Lisa was a student instructor for the Jazz Department at Richland College with an emphasis in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. Lisa danced professionally for Events in Motion and choreographed for the children’s music group, The Neighbor Kids. She choreographed all her students' studio recitals, performances for a variety of workshops throughout the Metroplex and prepared drill teams and individual dancers for dance competitions and scholarship auditions.
Lisa’s work has been recognized through the award of numerous scholarships including dance tuition scholarships to the Edge Performing Arts Center and the Dallas Dance Council. Lisa’s choreography and leadership has also led to the recognition of numerous students in dance competitions, including a Top 14 contestant on the television show, “So You Think You Can Dance”.
Sally Johnson, Ballet Instructor
Sally Johnson is a former professional ballet dancer having won a scholarship to the Upper Royal Ballet School in London where she continued her training and represented the Royal Academy of Dance. She performed with the Royal Opera, London Festival Ballet and the Kirov Ballet. Sally then danced under contract as a soloist with Festival Ballet De Monte Carlo, Irish Ballet Company, and then the Royal Ballet of Flanders for ten years. After touring America twice she settled in Dallas and started work with Richland College where she co-directed the Dance Department for twenty-five years, winning the Haggard award and excellence in teaching awards, as well as owning 2 studios in Dallas and Garland. Sally continues to teach and choreograph for Plano West Senior High School, as well as teaching and choreographing at Studios in Plano.
Peyton Baber, Hip-Hop Instructor
Peyton Baber is HDP's Hip Hop and Ballet/Tap Combo instructor. She has a strong training and performance background. She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz and Hip-Hop and received her classical ballet training at Chamberlain School of Ballet. Between 2010 and 2014 she participated in dance competitions and drill team. Her dance team was national champions for two years. Peyton is looking forward to teaching your children as she continues her career in childhood education.
Monika Papson, Instructor
Monika Papson was raised in Dallas, TX and started her dance training at age 3 at Joy Sharp School of Dance. After transferring to Dallas Ballet Center at age 8 she trained there until the end of high school. Monika was a part of the Dallas Ballet Company for 3 years and the DBC Tap Connection for 2 years. She has had the opportunity to perform several roles in ballets like The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, Raymonda, Sleeping Beauty, and a couple other full length ballets. Monika has had the opportunity to attend Regional Dance America Southwest, Dance Revolution, and has performed at the National Tap Day Dance Festival. She now attends Richland College where she is studying to receive her Associates degree in the AARTS for dance. Monika's current goal is to audition to become a performer with Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Monika enjoys dancing and loves teaching others what she has learned over the years.
Kimberly Lackey, Instructor
Kimberly Lackey grew up in Wisconsin and started taking gymnastics classes at a young age, but her passion was always to dance. In middle school she started taking dance classes at a studio in Thiensville, Wisconsin where she learned ballet, tap and jazz, and she also did cheerleading. This led her to join the Pom pons squad in high school. Kimberly went on to win an All Star Dance Team competition and was awarded the opportunity to perform at Euro Disney the year it opened. She graduated from Ohio University with a BBA in Management Information Systems. A job in telecommunications then brought her to Dallas where she was a circuit designer and a project manager. She then became a stay at home Mom when her first daughter was born. She’s been attending group fitness classes ever since she moved to Dallas and finally decided to get her Zumba certification so she can share her passion of dance with others. Kimberly has been married for 15 years and has two daughters who are competitive gymnasts at Texas Champion Gymnastics. They currently reside in Sachse, Texas.
