Lisa Garretson, Artistic Director & Owner - House of Dance Plano
Lisa has shared her passion for dance as an instructor and mentor for the past twenty years at Dallas Ballet Center and Studio 3 Dance. This privilege has allowed Lisa to help dancers build their technical dance skills, self-esteem, confidence, and poise . She cherishes every moment that she is able to inspire dancers to pursue a career in the dance industry and follow their dreams. Above all, Lisa believes that dance should be fun and accessible to all.
Lisa first stepped into a dance studio as a toddler and has not stopped dancing since. She studied dance at the University of North Texas where she received extensive training in ballet and modern. Lisa was a student instructor for the Jazz Department at Richland College with an emphasis in ballet, tap, jazz, and contemporary. Lisa danced professionally for Events in Motion and choreographed for the children’s music group, The Neighbor Kids. She choreographed all her students' studio recitals, performances for a variety of workshops throughout the Metroplex and prepared drill teams and individual dancers for dance competitions and scholarship auditions.
Lisa’s work has been recognized through numerous scholarship awards including dance tuition scholarships to the Edge Performing Arts Center and the Dallas Dance Council. Lisa’s choreography and leadership has also led to the recognition of numerous students in dance competitions, including a Top 14 contestant on the television show, “So You Think You Can Dance”.
JonCatherine Doolittle, Ballet Instructor
JonCatherine is a born-and-raised-native-Texan who grew up here in Dallas,. She began studying dance at the age of 2 at Carter Dance Academy. She studied classical Ballet and Competitive Jazz for 16 years. At age 16, she began teaching dance at Amanda Dalton School of Dance. After graduating high school she moved to NY to attend Joffrey Ballet School where she also studied Composition and Choreography. She graduated in 2017 after producing her first full length performance entitled “For Grace...”, as her senior project. During her time in NY she worked with various choreographers such as Michael Blake, Andrea Weber, Rena Butler, Angelica Stiskin, Gabriella Garcia, Andi Schmermoly, Yusuf Nasir, & Brooke Wendle. After receiving an offer to dance for Kibbutz Contemporary Company in Israel, she turned down that offer to pursue starting her own organization that brings Art Education to kids in third-word countries. She’s spent the past year working for Mission of Hope, Haiti. As a Mobilization Intern, she ministered to women and children about how art can glorify the Lord. She is now back in Dallas to pursue getting her seminary degree and her BFA before moving overseas again.
Peyton Pickett, Instructor
Peyton Baber is HDP's Hip Hop and Ballet/Tap Combo instructor. She has a strong training and performance background. She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz and Hip-Hop and received her classical ballet training at Chamberlain School of Ballet. Between 2010 and 2014 she participated in dance competitions and drill team. Her dance team was national champions for two years. Peyton is looking forward to teaching your children as she continues her career in childhood education.
Monika Papson, Instructor
Monika Papson, born and raised in Dallas, Texas, has the same passion for dance at age 22 as she did when she started dancing at 3 years old. She has been teaching at House of Dance Plano since the studio opened. Monika grew up dancing in Dallas under many famous teachers including Jason Fowler, Thom Clower, Carson Reid, and many others. She spent 10 years training under the instruction of Lisa Garretson. She danced with the Dallas Ballet Company for 3 years and the Dallas Ballet Tap Connection for 2 years. Monika is currently teaching Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Creative Movement, and Kinder-S.W.A.G. at HDP. She loves sharing her passion and heart for dance with others who want to learn and develop the same passion. Monika is currently going to school to become a Children’s Minister and is interning at Lake Point Church White Rock. She loves kids and enjoys teaching them. “House of Dance Plano is an amazing dance studio where teachers become friends and mentors who encourage and help their students become the best they can be.”
